Balambal Bharti is an epidemiologist whose focus is on autoimmune diseases in pregnancy. She is interested in how factors affecting mothers affect pregnancy outcomes (preterm birth, small for gestational age and spontaneous abortion), and she has studied RA disease severity, nausea, and vomiting in pregnancy on pregnancy outcomes.

Bharti is a member of the Teratology Society, a professional organization hailed as the premier source for authoritative information related to birth defects research, reproductive science and toxicology.

She has a medical degree from Pondicherry University, India, and an MPH from the University of Pittsburgh. In 2014, Bharti received her Ph.D. in Public Health Epidemiology from the joint University of California and San Diego State University program.
